So, the teaser for BoA’s first American music video is up.  Her first release is going to be the dance song “Eat You Up.”  Mostly, if my reaction was something along the lines of “Wtf engrish?” I’m not too positive that she’ll be, well, particularly successful, but I have my hopes. Mostly, because BoA’s voice is just so pleasant to listen to.  Also, her clothes are rockin’.  I want that outfit.  It would fit me, probably (I think I’m roughly the same size as BoA.  Smaller chest, maybe.)

To be honest, reading comments on YouTube makes me think–why shouldn’t this sell well? Frankly, BoA sounds like an Asian Rihanna–maybe a higher pitch, but the style is pretty much the same. The dancing is actually better. Maybe it’s like Rihanna and Chris Brown had an Asian Love Child, and decided she’d be Korean…

Well, that’s a little explicit and bizarre. But you get the idea, I hope (if not, see Chris Brown’s music video for Forever.  Dude can DANCE).

Anyway, some actual thoughts on BoA’s first English release.

I’m liking the sound and the dance; BoA’s always been a very strong singer and dancer.  I’m curious in seeing what will be on her album–I’m hoping that something like a new English version of VALENTI or Amazing Kiss.  Also, I think what she’s going to have to do to get some real, good, MTV-style attention is do a really kickass music video.  I’m thinking Britney Spears’ Break the Ice/Linkin Park’s Breaking the Habit style.  Partially because that kind of style gets a lot of attention, and also because it’s just plain freaking awesome.

(and before we get into it–I do think Brit deserved the VMAs she won, depsite what my father thinks, because she’s starting to get her awesome-factor back.  I like Britney Spears, she’s not that bad.  Maybe Mikitty would end up like that if she stayed in MoMusu.  Think of it that way.  Britney for Mikitty.  Fair trade?)

Ahem.

Anyway, BoA has her work cut out for her really: The biggest female names right now, I think, are going to be Rihanna, Britney Spears, and Demi Lovato.  Demi will be easy to take out–Disney starlet, tweeny-bopper-friendly, that’s easy to dispatch (also, no offense to Demi, because I personally will be buying her debut album, because she impressed me in concert).  Britney is harder, and Rihanna is hardest.

BoA will have to beat Umbrella.  Well, at least she can come up with more creative rhymes (umbrella-ella-ella-eh?)

…That said, who else is looking forward to Utada Hikaru’s second english album?  I am~  Let’s hope for more songs like You Make Me Want to Be a Man.  That’s totally my break-up anthem.

According to Tokyograph, entertainer/talento Kawabe Chieko married a producer twice her age.  Well, that’s nice, I guess.  For me, it’s just thinking: Jesus Christ, I remember seeing Chieko when she was playing Sailormercury in the Seramyu (Seramyu was put back into recent news when former Moon actress, Kanbe Miyuki, suddenly passed–coincidentally, Chieko was the Mercury to Miyuki’s Moon for her last two musicals.  Chieko also worked alongside Kuroki Marina for her first musical as Moon).

Most people will recognize Kawabe Chieko for singing several anime theme songs–the most well-known being Sakura Kiss, from Ouran Host Club.

You see, tonight (August 1 -> August 2), I was at the local Border’s for a whopping 4 and a half hours.  Why?  Because I was so-so-so convinced I wanted this new book.  Perhaps you’ve heard of it: Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer.  However, while waiting for this book–and it’s midnight release–I realized: I had no real INTEREST in this book.  I just really wanted to go to the release party because I missed the wonderful, marvelous Harry Potter midnight release parties at Border’s.  (They were pretty hardcore)

Anyway, how does this relate to music?  Well, because I tend to listen to certain songs while I read the damned Twilight series.  Sometimes, it’s Morning Musume.  And overtime, I’ve begun to associate idols with my favorite characters.

Without further adieu, let’s break dawn together.

The first character on our list is Bella Swan.  She is the protagonist of the series, all 4 of it’s horribly written books, and she is probably the whiniest bitch ever.

In my mind, I equate her voice and image with, of all idols, Sugaya Risako. Who cares that Bella is a senior in high school and Risako is only… 14 or something?  They’re attitudes aren’t really similar, either.  But…  For whatever reason, in my head, Bella sounds and resembles Risako.  I occasionally now equate the Monkey Dance with the Vampires.

The second character on the list is Edward Cullen, the totally perfect vampire.  For him, we need to travel to JOHNNY’S LAND.  I steal my Vampire Boys from KAT-TUN, of course.  Edward is Akanishi Jin.  Why?  The voice, perhaps.  Or maybe the looks.  Something like that.  Edward is, interestingly enough, played in the movie by none other than Robert Pattison–Harry Potter fangirls, it’s true: Edward Cullen is a Hufflepuff (Pattison played Cedric Diggory in Goblet of Fire).

The third character is Alice Cullen, my personal favorite character.  Alice is a flighty, happy, carefree vampire who sees the future.  In my head?  She’s totally played by… Tanaka Reina!  Alice and Tanakacchi share a certain trait: STYLE.  They’re both quite the fashionista in their respective fandoms.  If only Reina cut her hair short…

Fourth on the list is Jacob Black, the werewolf who my bff loves and I don’t care for.  He’s… a werewolf.  He has a temper.  He’s in love with Risako-Bella.  Booooring.  I equate him with Nishikido Ryo.  Dunno why.  Just… do.

My personal favorite male character is fifth–Jasper Hale.  Jasper is AWESOME.  He is a bonafide vampire.  In my head, he’s played by Ueda Tatsuya. It’s just perfect that way.

Sixth is Rosalie Hale, the kinda bitchy vampire.  She’s pretty though, and in my head, she’s played by a randomly blonde Takahashi Ai.  Yeah, random, I know, but I need a Takitty to go against Tanakacchi.

Seventh is Emmett Cullen, played by Tanaka Koki.  We move on because I don’t care.

Eighth is Carlisle Cullen, played by motherfucking Gackt.  The voice is oh-so-perfect, and, well… come ON!  GACKT!!!!  How can he not be on a vampire-related list.

Ninth, and finally, is Esme Cullen, who is a very nice lady, played by Matsuura Aya, because Ayaya doesn’t do enough, and, quite frankly, Esme is so nice and pretty, I imagine she might play futsal too.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to go read a crappy book before I remember I have work at noon tomorrow.  Night night all.

Anyway, I turned 17 on the 18th. I got my driver’s permit recently, and more frequently, I’ve been going out with friends. I don’t know why I’m telling anyone this, because it doesn’t have anything at all to do with Morning Musume or even music. Unless you count that I’m going to be playing Suzuki Ami’s newest album, DOLCE in the car with my mom.

So, since I’m now 17, I figure… Going back to blogging might be a good idea. And, I figured, I’d start by sharing my Condensed Thoughts on Music as of Late.

Lately, I’ve been listening to a lot of technopop/electronica; if not that, then I’ve been on a Goto Maki kick. There’s something about the way it sounds that has made me quite… happy.

Besides Perfume, I’ve been really listening to a lot of the new Suzuki Ami releases. For my birthday, my mom did in fact buy me DOLCE, and it’s been what I listen to while I learn to drive.  I have a review planned, I just… have to write it.

I’ve also got a copy of KAT-TUN’s 3rd album, KAT-TUN III -QUEEN OF PIRATES- somewhere within the states.  It is SUPPOSED to be in my possession, but my friend (while sweet for buying it for me) is holding it hostage in his car.  While I doubt he’ll read this, in case he does: I would like it, please, before you go to college (or else it rots in your car until Winter Break and I’d like my Uepi BEFORE Christmas). ;~;

• The new Wonderful Hearts song with the JunJun solo is equally as awesome.  I cried listening to it–it’s JUNJUN!
• Biyuuden is finally over, and NOW I’m listening to their discography over again.  Loving Ajisai Ai AI Monogatari.
• I actually LOVE the Monkey Dance song; I put it on my boyfriend’s birthday mix CD just because I think it’s so awesome.
• Milky Way’s got a 2nd single coming out?  Sweet.
• Still waiting for the first Gocchin avex single!

Not… Really.  Not at the moment.  I don’t think so, at least.

3. Who do you think is the sexiest japanese singer out there?
Toss up: Miyavi and Amuro Namie.  Ueda Tatsuya is a whole package deal.

4. How about the cutest?
Oh, well, that’s easy.  The cutest Jpop star EVER is probably Otsuka Ai, she’s just SO adorable.  Also, Kashiyuka?~

5. Best personality?
…This is where I’ll toss in Tat-chan.  Because I don’t know anyone else as awesome as him.

6. If given the opportunity, would you rather date person 3, person 4, or person 5?
Miyavi or Tat-chan?  Dude, Tat-chan.

7. You work for a Japanese music magazine, and you have the opportunity to interview your favorite artist or group. What are a couple of the questions you want to ask them?
To Perfume: “What’s it like to be the best girl group out there at present?  How does this affect your work dynamic?  Do you three also like techno?  How about Suzuki Ami?”

8. What’s the best (J-pop) song to listen to when you are really sad?
It depends on the kind of sadness.  If this is a “my bf just broke up with me” sadness, then I have an entire playlist for it, and the central songs are… “Resonant Blue” and “Shabondama” by Morning Musume and “Uso Mitai na I Love You” by Utada Hikaru (so, you can imagine what I was doing instead of blogging for most of early June.  It wasn’t studying for my finals, I’ll tell you that).  Other songs are… “Stay Gold” by Hikki (for personal reasons ._.), “FREE & EASY” by Hamasaki Ayumi, “THE LAST NIGHT” by Matsuura Aya, “Yu.u.wa.ku” by Nakazawa Yuko…  This list goes on.  “Orenji no Taiyou” by Gackt and HYDE is on there.  And, the end of any of my sad playlists on iTunes is ALWAYS, regardless of the genre, Miyavi’s “Ashita, Genki ni naare.” because it cheers me up immensely.  The song before that, however, is generally a Ueda Tatsuya solo, just to make me squee.

9. When you’re really happy?
Lately, my happy song has been “WANT ME, WANT ME” by Amuro Namie.  But, usually?  It’s either “FREE FREE” by Suzuki Ami or “Polyrhythm” by Perfume.  However, Nakagawa Shoko’s “Rinbu-REVOLUTION” has been creeping up there.  I have far less “OMG IM HAPPY” songs than I do “I’m sad D:” songs, but I was sad for most of the earlier part of this month.  ^^”  Anything Ueda Tatsuya sings makes me sorta fangirl-faint.  The song of his I like best when I’m happy is…  probably “LOST.”  Um…  Also, I’ve been on a “Wilds of my Heart” by KAT-TUN quick, and my mood’s been okay, so I guess that counts? xP

10. Do you often sing along to your favorite songs?
Oh, definately.  I do karaoke groups anyway, but even without them, I tend to sing them.  It’s just awkward when I do it in public.

11. How about dance?
Yes, and that’s truly awkward.  I danced down the main street in my town to Resonant Blue.  Very awkward.

12. Artistic integrity question!! If someone offerrered to pay you for blogging, but they were allowed to censor some of your opinions or veto some of your blogging ideas, would you do it?
No. Fucking. Way.

As a quick side note: My friend Sho is going to Japan and he’s agreed to bring me back another CD ♥  Anyone have any suggestions as to what I should get?

And, oh, how Kuri lucid dreams.  Apparently, I dream vividly and in much detail when I choose to, because the dream I had was perfectly realistic (from a dream, considering that it’ll never happen.  Ever).  And it was better than any of the previous Hello! Project OR Johnny’s dreams I’ve ever had before.

So, I figured, I should share it! ♥

According to Wikipedia (since I don’t have my psychology textbook OR my Dad’s old one):

A lucid dream is a dream in which the person is aware that he or she is dreaming while the dream is in progress, also known as a conscious dream. When the dreamer is lucid, he or she can actively participate in the dream environment without any of the inhibitions or limitations that otherwise would feel natural to persons who incorrectly believe they are in the “real” waking world.

We were supposed to try lucid dreaming as an experiment in my psych class earlier in the year (circa January).  I didn’t get the hang of it until recently (clearly).  But now that I know how I can get started, I can most certainly have these dreams over and over and over again.

You see, I wanted to dream about a Morning Musume concert, since I fear I may never get to see one.  However, since I went to bed spazzing about Ueda Tatsuya’s solo concert (see Wilds of my {♥} for more spazzing), I guess I decided to stick KAT-TUN in there as well.

So, I dreamt a very vivid dream about a Morning Musume/KAT-TUN joint concert.  Yes, I know, that makes wota go “YAY” and JE fangirls go “WUT?” and it makes me squee in joy.  I’d LOVE to see Kamei Eri and JunJun and Ueda Tatsuya all performing together.  It’d be like WTF awesome.

Anyway, in my dream they sang songs together, songs separate, duets, trios, more.  It was beautiful.  And clearly, since I was in the audience, Ueda Tatsuya sang me “LOST” so I think dream-Kuri fainted in joy.

Anyway, I dreamed the setlist (apparently, they had a playbill.  No lie.  With the setlist in there.  I’m assuming I really, really like collecting playbills) as well.  Which, as much as I can remember… Is as follows:

1) T∀BOO -> Genki+ (KAT-TUN, then MoMusu, then all)
2) DON’T U EVER STOP (KAT-TUN, with MoMusu being back-up dancers)
3) Keep the faith (KAT-TUN)
4) Onna ni Sachi Are (MoMusu)
5) Kanashimi Twilight (MoMusu, KAT-TUN as back-up dancers and Ueda playing guitar.  Hell.  Yes.)

7) Balalaika -> Make U Wet -> Anataboshi (LinLin, Kusumi Koharu, Tanaka Koki) no, this doesn’t make sense to anyone except me.  Also, for the Make U Wet part, LinLin and Kussumi literally left the stage, then came back with frying pans and chased him away screaming “CHILDREN ARE HERE!”  He came back to do Anataboshi, though.

Anyway, it was a pretty kickass dream.  There were some pretty sweet dance moves, even the wota in my dream liked it.  There was no anger between the JE fangirls and MoMusu wota.  Michishige and Kusumi were nearly nonexistant.  It was marvelous.

Also, Kusumi/LinLin/Koki Anataboshi?  Instant win.

Oh, Gocchin, I cannot wait to see you finally fulfilling my chocolately fantasies about your musical career….

You know, maybe, Gocchin can duet with Fergie now too.  It can be like Shakira and Beyonce, only with less dancing.  Also, Gocchin is slightly classier than Fergie.

I would’ve written again sooner, but… circumstances… prevented me. We shall just say it’s been quite a busy month so far, with school ending and drama in personal life going on, but… I promise to write more ♥

Where did we leave off? On MoMusu and Minimoni, right? We’ll begin again there.

I talked about how fun some of MoMusu’s songs were, right? We’re going to talk about why I love them as a group, exactly while I still remember why ;D

Their first really sort of “fun” song–that didn’t have a more mature theme–was their best seller ever, LOVE Machine. LOVE Machine is a little infamous now; during the 10-year-anniversary of MoMusu, it was played and sung so many times that most fans wants to gauge their ears out.

However, LOVE Machine has great lyrics like… “The world is jealous of Japan’s future~!” That kind of inspirational stuff. It set a precedent.

Throughout the years, MoMusu has churned out hits and fan-favorites that are… picker-uppers. I have provided a couple below for you, with PVs or performances or whatever.

The first of these so-called inspirational songs is I WISH. I WISH is a song I used to really hate, but I grew to love it immensely. Part of it is the performance I included here, and part of it is the sincerity of the lyrics:

The next song, chronologically, is the b-side to the single The Peace!, which is called Dekkai Uchuu ni Ai ga Aru. It’s a very pretty, very sweet song. The lyrics are similar to I WISH in a way, but they’re much more… filled with love for the world.

Next up is the absolutely crack-tastic Souda! WE’RE ALIVE. I’ve been trying to make sense of this song for about a year now, and I still can’t, to be sure. But… It’s about having a good time. It’s really danceable, unlike the other two, which weren’t exactly “dance!!” songs.

Koko ni Iruzee! is another very, very special, important song for us. Everyone gets a solo, everyone gets to share in the awesomeness of it!

It’s only fair if I mention Koko ni Iruzee!‘s lyrics:

After that one, there’s a break in really awesome inspiration songs, until we get to Ambitious! Yashinteki de Ii jan. I quite like it, actually; it’s rather amazing.

Very, very uptempo, very upbeat, very nice. It’s so hyper and… Well… It tells you to be… ambitious!

It’s harder than you would think to talk about Aruiteru, which is generally one of the most hated songs in MoMusu history, as far as overseas fans go. It was really unpopular when it first came out. But, it’s… very… hopeful, for the future.

See what I mean? It’s Michishige Sayumi’s favorite song, it would seem. I think it’ll be her graduation song.

There’s a huge break of 3 singles inbetween Aruiteru and Mikan. And Mikan is one of my favorite songs right now; but it’s MoMusu worst selling single in history. Which is depressing, I assure you.

The song may be one of my favorites because it came out when I really needed it as a song, to tell me that I could still have hope in the world. The lyrics are especially important
