The TLS Blogger Survey, or, Dear God, this is what I come back to do

I’ll be honest; school and shit has kept me far too busy to blog about anything lately; even my LJ is currently clogged with frantic “OMFG THE [insert Big Important Test here] IS TOMORROW AND OMFG I’M TOTALLY NOT READY AND OMFG MY ASS IS HUGE WHY DIDN’T ANYONE TELL ME?” posts.  Strangely, no one seems to mind the Huge Ass posts, though.

Anyway, I’ve been lurking around Intl Wota (on my phone, which is, btw, totally fucking GHETTO) and I saw that True Life Seek has a survey for bloggers.  It would appear that Broomhead, like so many of us, simply does not have the inspiration or will to post.  Seeing as though I can fully relate, I figure… Sure, why not take the Survey of the Century?

Goals

  • Why do you blog?

Personally, I blog because…  Well, because I like to write.  I’ve been writing since forever, and, also, making lists.  Furthermore, I blog about Japanese idols.  I blog about Japanese idols because I use them as a form of escapism.  Because my life sucks some days, and it’s always sunny in Hello! Project World.  I blog because it gives me some kind of fervent hope, or escape, or wish, or something.  Also, I like people to know that I am one of those people out there on the internet who gives a flying fuck about grammar, sentence structure, etc.  My teacher didn’t point me out to get a 5 on the English Language AP test for nothing.

Which brings me to point 2: I’m a conceited bitch; I want people to know how good I am some days.  Yeah, there’s definitely better people, but I’m not bad.  And blogging gives me practice in writing.  Who knows?  Maybe one day I’ll be reviewing things for real.

Also, I’ve noticed that I tend to blog when I need a break from History homework.  Which is perfectly understandable some days, as US History AP is a rather intense course that tends to drain me mentally and physically.

  • What long-term goals do you hope to accomplish, if any at all?

As far as blogging goes?  Well, we’ve established that I’m a glory-seeking, conceited bitch, so… Clearly, I’m on the look-out for accolades.  Well, only sort of.  Blogging makes me feel good, especially when my posts get some kind of notice; when I see that a post of mine has been reviewed on Intl Wota, I still get slightly excited.  Yeah, I know, kinda lame.  Hmm…  Well, my long-term blogging goal is to get my name out there, and heard.

I want to improve and finalize my writing style, as well.  I know I tend to have a rather… sarcastic style, as my history teacher points out repeatedly.  This blog would properly kill his respect for me, though–although it really can’t get any worse than the Sudafed-driven ramblings that include “Communists are bitches and hos who instigated Serious Wars that totally really ruined LBJ, even though he was a crazy guy obsessed with his own initials.”  In my defense, Lyndon B. Johnson was pretty obsessed with his initials–his dog was named Little Beagle Johnson for Christ’s sake.

As for other long-term goals, I’m aiming for Empress of the Universe.  Fuck yeah.

  • Where does your blog fail to meet your goals?

I dunno.  I wish I had more readers, but if there are people who randomly find this blog and read other entries and think it’s a swell blog, then yay!

Also, as I am clearly not yet Empress of the Universe, my blog isn’t helping on that front.

  • If you do have goals, what will accomplishing them do for yourself?

…Well, if I’m ever linked on 4ch, my job will be done.  Seriously, I don’t know.  Boost my self-confidence, likely.  Which sounds pretty peachy if you ask me.

  • What do you want to gain out of blogging? A creative outlet? Praise from others? Personal satisfaction? Money?

Where was there every money?  If there was money, I’d take it in a heartbeat.

I like the creative outlet part and the personal satisfaction is swell, but I’m mostly a hawk for the praise.  I love the praise.  Give me my laurels to rest on, and I’m a happy little idol loving blogger.

  • Do you feel that your blog should meet a requirement for amount of entries? Do you feel any particular entry should be a certain length?

My Retro Review! entries are the only thing that have a certain length.  If they’re shorter than 300 words, I freak out.  Other than that, I just… write.  I almost never proofread either; but then again, my grammar’s usually okay anyway.  And my spelling’s not too shabby either, so…  I’m set.

  • For any particular entry, what motivates you to start and finish blog posts?

Often, I get slightly attached to entries I’ve been mulling over.  These are the Retro Reviews, and the one entry that I’ve been writing and rewriting over and over again that still hasn’t seen the light of day.  That would be the Hello! Project-meets-Seramyu entry.  My wording also motivates me.  That is to say, if I come up with the Perfect Phrase for an entry, I will finish it way faster.

This is likely why my Biyuuden tribute/Buono! worship post is not yet done, nor is my “History of Fandom–from Pull-Ups to Miniskirts” even started, beyond an outline.

(for the record: I was bouncing around and falling down the stairs to fucking Shonen Knife at age 2.  BEAT THAT, WEEABOO 4CHNERS)

  • Do you actively consider long term goals for each individual post?

Not in particular.  My blog is for my own enjoyment, mostly.  And, well, the praise.  God, I love Ego Boosters.  And, of course, if it’s going to get me to be Empress….

Subject Material

  • What do you blog about?

Depends on the blog.  This one, Morning Kuri, is about almost all Jpop, with an emphasis on Morning Musume.  Monochrome Effect is about Perfume.  My personal blog is about… me, duh.  And my personal blog has, in the past, consisted of everything from reviews of albums I just got, stories about my day (ah, all the mundaneness of life!), rants about life (mostly boys), random blurbs (including a mastercard commercial about flirting with my Hot Shift Manager), and, in the past, full-blown political agendas.

  • Would you be keep a blog even if it wasn’t about the subjects you tend to cover?

Of course.  Especially For A Pessimist, my personal one.  I’m really attached to it~~!  More so than my other blogs.

  • Do you write about the material to promote it to others?

Only Monochrome Effect.  Or, well, sometimes I advertise here on MK…

Readership

  • How much do you care about readership?

A LOT.  The more people who read, the happier a Kuri I am.  I love readers, I LOVE comments.  It means someone’s there and reading.

  • Does it satisfy you to know people are reading, even if they don’t comment?

Well, yeah, but the comments are real proof!

  • What effect does receiving a comment have on you?

A reenactment:

OMG OMG OMG YAY~~~~  CAN YOU BELIEVE IT ITS A COMMENT I REALLY LOVE COMMENTS YAY~~  … Is this a flame?  *sad*  BUT!  IT’S A COMMENT!!!!!!!!!

  • Do you write with a particular audience in mind or an unspecified general audience? Why?

I kinda assume that my readers know about the subject; but sometimes, it’s better to write an intro, if the subject isn’t totally known.

  • If you write for a particular audience, is it International Wota? If yes, why?

…Yes.  I’m as guilty as Ayu.  And it’s because INTL WOTA FUCKING ROCKS MY SOCKS OUT LOUD.  Also, because Intl Wota always has nice readers ^o^

Community (The International Wota section)

  • If International Wota didn’t exist, would you blog?

Yeah.  Well, Monochrome Effect might not exist (as ME is mostly fanservice and Perfume news), but Morning Kuri and For a Pessimist would.

  • When IW covers an entry of yours, are you encouraged to blog more or less?

More, of course!  It means that my entries are worthy of notice.

  • When IW does not cover an entry, are you encouraged to blog more or less?

More.  So that the next entry gets definite notice.

  • How often do you read other blogs?

Frequently.  I like reading what others think.  I tend to read blogs on my cellphone though, so no commenting…

  • How often do you comment on other blogs?

Since I mostly read on my phone, not often; I try to comment when I’m online, though.

  • If another blog covers a topic that you wanted or wished to cover, do you still blog about that specific topic? Why or why not?

Well… yeah.  Because my opinion might not be the same as the other person’s.

Commitment

  • How serious is your attitude towards blogging? Do you consider it just as something to do for fun?

I’m capricious.  Some days I’m serious (and churn out 3 entries) and other days I’m blah and do shit.  It’s mostly for fun, though.

  • How often do you blog? How often would you like to blog?

Once every two weeks; I’d like to be blogging every other day.

  • What priorities do you or have you put aside in order to blog? Why?

Sometimes I do skip out on homework if I really want to blog.  But only English and Precalc homework, which is generally easy.  But only if I have something I really need to blog.

  • Do you see yourself blogging in 6 months? Why or why not?

Well, yeah…  In 6 months, it’ll be… November.  And in November, I started Morning Kuri.  So I have to be blogging then!  I didn’t blog because it was OMG! A SUPERKEWL FAD!  I started MK because I had opinions on Jpop and music, and I thought they were valid.  And… they are.

Personal

  • Would you say you blog for yourself?

Some days, definitely.  Other days… No.  I mean, if one person reads a blog entry, I’m pleased.

  • What is your feeling after posting an entry? Is it relative to the time and effort you put in an entry?

I feel… accomplished.  Like I’ve just done something totally fucking awesome.

  • What needs does blogging fulfill?

That “Notice me!” need.  The one that’s totally immodest to acknowledge.

  • Do you consider yourself a writer?

Do I write?  Yes.  By definition, I’m a writer.  Actually, I do handwrite a good 85% of my entries beforehand, during English or Spanish class.  Ah, escapism.

  • Do you consider yourself good at writing? Good at blogging?

I’m good at writing, yes.  Good at blogging, though?  No.  Since I do tend to write mostly for myself, to sometimes even to myself, there’s not always that connection to people.

Also, if you haven’t noticed, I do sometimes Shock-Blog.  That is, I write things meant to make you go “What the flying fuck?”  So, no, I’m not always good at blogging.

  • How much of your personal life do you share on your blog? If none, why do you leave this out?

Always!  I mean… On For a Pessimist, of course, it’s my personal blog.  But on MK, it’s got dribbles about my personal life.  Because all of that is me; and my personal life has an effect on my personality and mood, and thus, my posts.  If I’m pissy, my entry’ll be pissy, and you need to know that I’m pissy.  It might taint the entire entry, so…  Fuck yeah.

Since this is here, upcoming entries, I swear to God, I’ll do them:

  1. The Biyuuden/Buono! entry
  2. the History of fandom entry
  3. A haircut hall of fame (I LOVE THE SHORT HAIR)
  4. High-King?!!!
  5. SERAMYU MEETS H!P
